Everything You Need to Know

About Me:

       This will be my 7th year here at Greenfield Elementary. I have experience in Pre-K, Kindergarten and 1st grade. Because of that, I have a good idea what knowledge your child is coming in with, and should leave with. I graduated with my Bachelors in 2009, and my Master in 2010 from the University of Florida both concentrating on Early Childhood Education.

       When I am not teaching I am enjoying the beach, riding my bike or cheering the Gators and Jaguars on. I am looking forward to getting to know each child, as I hope they get to know me.

Things You Can Do At Home To Help Your Child At School:

*        Read together every night

*        Ask your child what they learned in school today

*        Ask your child about their day

*        Set a routine for your child to follow

*        Follow through with consequences

Communication

         Education is a partnership between home and school. In order to for your child to succeed we must communicate to find out what works best for them.

       Please feel free to call, write a note, or e-mail me if you have concerns or questions about your child’s education.  I am always available to schedule a conference to discuss any issue or concern you have regarding your child.

This year I will be using the Remind101 text app. I will be able to send group reminders to parents about things such as homework, class parties, field trips, etc. It is my hope this will help with the home-school communication.

Arrival and Dismissal:

Class begins promptly at 8:25 am; please have your child to school before then. The front office asks that after the first nine weeks, parents allow their child to walk themselves to class. Dismissal begins at 3:00 pm. Parents are unable to check students out early after 2:15.

Car Riders/Park and Pick Up:

Parents of car riders and Park & Pick up need to register in the front office. Car Riders will be given a number to put in their car on the rearview mirror.

BEE Folders:

B.E.E. (Bring Everything Everyday) folders will be sent home every day. B.E.E. folders contain a wealth of information for your reference such as homework, newsletters, and contact information. *Please make sure to send in every day!*

Homework:

       At the beginning of each month your child will receive a MONTHLY homework calendar. Homework will coincide with what we are learning in the classroom. This is another way to stay involved with what your child is learning every day.  Homework will be turned in on Fridays at the end of each week. Students who have all homework turned in at the end of each 9 weeks will receive a popsicle party.

Newsletters:

       You should be on the look our for 2 newsletters. Mr. Simpson will be sending one, and so will I. If for some reason it did not go home, check the blog for updates.
